Gary Stone is the proprietor of For Keeps Ltd, a specialist construction firm that renovates and restores historic buildings.

Springtime 1994, and Rookstone Castle is just another project, until Gary is shown a disturbing photograph by a baronet with a deadly secret. Terrorised at 02:17 every morning by an ancient relative, he fails to understand her warning and his team becomes embroiled in a jewel heist.

Besieged by the police and the media outside, hostage to dangerous criminals inside, the hangry builders are trapped in a castle full of ghosts with a psychopath and a Jack Russell named Poppy… and they are running out of sandwiches.
